So far.
$3 movies. 'Jaws' in 3D and IMAX. A top-notch Elvis impersonator. 2022 could easily be called the year movie theaters struck back with a vengeance thanks to a Top Gun's insistence to play 'Everything Everywhere All at Once," while avoiding streaming like the plague.
And it's all thanks to a visually impressive yet somewhat awkward AMC ad that plays while theater-goers recite "The Kidman Pledge of Allegiance," right?
Well, maybe not. But with box-office improving dramatically for the first time since Covid scuttled our ability to congregate in the dark, 2022 has served as a reminder that watching at home whilst dodging kids and house cats will always play second fiddle to the in-theater experience.
To that end, I submit this piece as evidence A.
