So far.
$3 movies... 'Jaws' in 3D and IMAX... A top-notch Elvis impersonator. 2022 could easily be called the year movie theaters struck back a vengeance thanks to a 'Top Gun's' insistence to play 'Everything Everywhere All at Once."
All thanks to an awkward AMC ad that plays while theater-goers recite "The Kidman Pledge of Allegiance," right?
Well, maybe not. But with box-office improving dramatically for the first time since Covid scuttled our ability to congregate in the dark with strangers, 2022 has served as a reminder that watching at home with smart phones, kids and house cats by our side will always play second fiddle to the in-person theater experience.
To that end, I submit this piece as evidence A.
