Anytime you get to interview an NBA star early in his career, you get to assess if he's the real deal. This interview I did with Kobe back in 1999 gave me a glimpse of a young player striving for "ultimate perfection." He may not have achieved "perfection" per se, but 32,482 points, five rings and one 81-point game later, it's safe to say he came close.
