Every now and then, a movie comes along that knocks me off my feet. I didn't see it coming, but I connect to it so viscerally that I immediately need to write it up. Luckily, I have a platform that allows me to do so.
This week that film was HBO's 'The Survivor.' Naturally, as a Jewish man married to someone with Holocaust survivors in her family, I have a connection to this horrific moment in history. And with anti-semitism still problematic in various parts of the world, let alone in the U.S., movies like this remind us all why "Never Forget" is a very important concept.
Here's more about the film and the powerful performance of Ben Foster as Harry Haft, a prisoner at Auschwitz who's forced to fight his Jewish peers for his life – and the sick amusement of his sadistic Nazi captors.
