I'll be honest. I probably didn't love Netflix's 'Grand Army' on the whole, but one thing I think stood out was the performance of Odessa A'zion, who plays high-schooler (Joey Del Marco). She's a teenager with her whole future ahead of her... until a sexual assault turns her life upside down. It's tough to watch at times, but A'zion's gifted performance is memorable and feels authentic to how rape and victim culture can presumably go down nowadays.
Side note (and I didn't know this until I began writing her up): She is the daughter of Pamela Adlon, who was hilarious as "the Marce" in Showtime's 'Californication,' one my favorite series from yesteryear.
