No doubt one of the best series of 2020 — with a soundtrack that I'm still listening to as I write most everything — 'The Queen's Gambit' on Netflix is one those series that executes its moves to perfection. A period-piece drama with great performances, stunning production design and powerful writing (care of series creator and UCSB film-alum Scott Frank), who I incidentally share the same screenwriting mentor with. The one and only: Paul Lazarus.
