It seems like every "new" movie that comes out during the pandemic (when all indoor theaters are effectively closed) is greeted with a resounding 'well, what do we have here...'. So, upon viewing 'Yes, God, Yes' on VOD (a film that actually premiered at the 2019 SXSW Festival), the greeting was more than a welcomed affair for me and my wife.
In the film, 'Stranger Things' star Natalia Dyer comes to grips with her own sexuality while committing a sort of hormonal hubris against her faith as a teenage Catholic schoolgirl. It's a worthy portrayal -- if just to remind yourself what AOL dial-up looks like and that the hypocrisies of the Catholic church have lead to a generation of guilt-ridden, confused individuals.
