Much like Vietnam, the war against racial injustice has been raging for far too long. And in any other year (that didn't feature a global pandemic and the lynching by police of George Floyd in broad daylight), a film like Spike Lee's 'Da 5 Bloods' on Netflix might've fallen on deaf ears.
But this is 2020 and as result, the performance of Delroy Lindo as pro-Trump supporting Vietnam vet with PTSD makes you stop in your tracks.
Unfortunately, nobody got to see this film on a big screen due to mass closures of movie theaters, but it's a performance that is powerful and shouldn't be forgotten. And I'm willing to bet it won't be come time for Oscars voters to gather 'round their virtual ballots for 2021.
