Chicagoland Skydiving Center - Rochelle, IL
The Scene: Ever since he hit 40, dad's been in a free fall. That's why an actual freefall from 14,000 feet could make him feel just a bit more alive. Chicagoland Skydiving Center has been in business since 1968 and has perfected what they call 'the business of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.' If DNA wasn't enough, this will bond you just a bit more.

Adventures on the Gorge - Lansing, WV
The Scene:  Lazing around on a couch or in a spa may lower dad's blood pressure, but it won't do wonders for his bucket list. That's why Adventure at the Gorge exists. At this West Virginia resort, dad can do everything from two-hour ambush paintball to ziplining to dangling from a bridge on a half-day bridge walk.
Banjo Billy's Bus Tours - Boulder, CO
The Scene: Dad always wanted some serious hops. Nurture dad's undying thirst for yeast, froth and not always having to drive himself with this tasting adventure from Banjo Billy's Bus Tour in Denver, Colorado. He'll get to hop aboard Banjo Billy's Funky Brew Bus and visit some of the best area breweries in Colorado including Renegade Brewing Company and Beryl Beer Co. (April to October). Available for private bookings.
Myrtle Beach Speedway - Myrtle Beach, SC
The Scene: Dad's always been an aggressive driver. Those hairpin curves while drinking coffee have really begun to take a toll on his favorite plaid pants.

Now there's a place where he can really open it up, and experience the life of a NASCAR hopeful without all those trophies (and trophy wives). The Myrtle Beach Speedway lets him drive an actual NASCAR race car during a short track racing stint with no lead car or instructor. Just him, the road, and flame retardant pants. It's $199 for the "Real race car experience."
Field of Dream Movie Site - Dyersville, IA
The Scene: What better place to visit than the spot which recorded the most famous game of father/son catch ever? At the Lansing family farm in Iowa -- forever made famous by the 1987 Oscar-nominated film, 'Field of Dreams' -- tourists are welcome to step on the field to relive magical moments from the fantasy film. Just don't expect real dead ballplayers to emerge from the corn. That's extra.
Alaska Charter & Adventures - Wrangell, AK
The Scene: Maybe dad's NFL dreams never panned out but that doesn't mean he doesn't know his way around tackle. After a long, hard year of hooking new clients, a quiet little trip to your local fishing hole could be the perfect remedy for new city-borne illnesses such as Sick-of-Cell Anemia. In Alaska? Even better.
Yosemite National Park - Yosemite National Park, CA
The Scene: Hidden in dad's DNA is a hunter gatherer mentality and a deep-seated need to roam, run and climb large immovable objects. Nurture all his instincts with a weekend camping trip to Yosemite National Park (or some other National Park near you). Hike, bike, fish and bathe in the shower of misty-eyed waterfalls as you ponder scaling Half Dome amid a man-them of great pleasure. It might just be the best thing for his dome.
The Resort at Pelican Hill - Newport Coast, CA
The Scene:  There's a reason 'dads' and 'golf' are a cliche. Golf combines two things men love -- hitting small objects with heavy things and total peace and quiet. Voted the #1 golf resort in the country by 'Conde Nast Traveler', The Resort at Pelican Hill offers a fine marriage of beauty and brilliance on their coastal stretch of three Tom Fazio-designed courses. They even have with professional caddies to help read greens and unburden dad from his hefty bag. Make this round on you.
